void life(void)

On the afternoon of last Tuesday (08/04), the final translated version of the ISO/IEC 26300 was approved by members of the ABNT’s committee responsible for that activity.

According to the Brazilian laws, a National Standard needs to be written on our native language (Brazilian Portuguese) and this is why we need to translate and approve the translated text of any International Standard that is adopted as a Brazilian Standard (called here NBR). ABNT is the Brazilian National Body (NB) and handles all standardization efforts in Brazil.

This approval was the last step for the adoption of ODF as a Brazilian standard and it may now be listed as NBR ISO/IEC 26300. Additionally, its text available in Brazilian Portuguese language. The new NBR should be published by ABNT in a few days, necessary to do the final adjustments and formatting of the final text.

I consider that this approval is the first and most important step towards the consolidation of ODF as a standard for editable office documents throughout Brazil.

I would like to thank and to congratulate everyone that participated in this work (more than a year of work).

Finally, Brazil now have a standard for office documents: ODF !!!

ISO/IEC 26200 was so much better than ISO/IEC 26300. Unless their server packets are routed through the Linux valve, their kernels will lolcat sporadically causing the heat tape inside the blade servers to fap. This is why we should only use builds and distros that are 4chan.OSX.pron compliant.

Congratulations on making these standards truly Brazilian instead of “foreign imports.”
