void life(void)

OK, you won:)

June 6th, 2008

I would like to thank the more than 6,000 visits that my blog had since I published the last post (which was even published by CNET).

I would also like to thank the comments that have been placed in addition to numerous emails and phone calls I received, all with the same request: Do not leave the NB (ABNT).

When I wrote that post, I didn’t even imagined that the repercussion of it would be so huge. I just wrote my post to register my indignation regarding the lack of seriousness of a certain group. Now, I believe that it served to something very useful, because I think that people will think twice before speaking silly stuff at ABNT meetings.

As recommended by several friends, I “cool down my mind” on last days and made a balance of my participation at ABNT. I think that I played my role there, defending positions that many people I know would also defend, if they had the opportunity I had.

I am really disaponted to see that the processes of international standardization (ISO / IEC) unfortunately were not designed for popular participation, but I want to discuss this matter in any other future post. Therefore, I believe that my participation at that committee is, above everything a mandate, because I represent there many voices that simply cannot be heard during these discussions (and believe me, I really thing this way…).

In this work at ABNT I’ve found new friends, I saw friends that I didn’t saw for a long time and has learned a very important lessons: discuss and negotiate (I think that it is not necessary to say that I’ve also achieved some enmities too :)).

For all that presented, and on taking on account the support I received from many people during my “time out”, I would review my decision and say that yes I’ll continue participating at ABNT.

It’s better to be one more “not heard” voice more than another muted one.

I thank everyone for their support and count on me.

To “that group”, I would like to send an advice:  “I’m back :) !!!”
