void life(void)

It sounds like a joke, but the Senator Azeredo’s project was approved on Brazilian senate during the night of last Wednesday.

The project now is going to the Chamber of Deputies and we have our last chance to do something there.

I recommend everyone to read this post (sorry folks, Google Translation is all that I can use at this time) at Sergio Amadeu’s blog, where he comments just one of the changes made to the project over the last days, which in fact does not really change anything. I think the folks in Brasilia should have accompanied the FastTrack of OpenXML that one cannot fix a “bad and polemical document” in a small period of time.

I ask the help of everyone to sign and publish this online petition that has collected nearly 30 thousand signatures (note that the Sergio’s blog post was published today at noon, and had 21 thousand signatures !!!).

They want to prohibit the collaborative networks and virtually prevent the dissemination and sharing of information and knowledge through the Internet. We cannot accept that, and a project like this one clearly shows how our Senate really does not live in the same world in which we live, and we also see that Internet users still without a representative in the legislative house.

I really wish to have in Brazil all the necessary democratic mechanisms needed to see the project’s votes, one by one, to identofy who approved the project and compare their vote with the “list of donors” for their respective campaigns, just to check if everything is OK. I tried to raise this information, but found that the publishing of campaign accountability on the Internet by the TSE is something created after the election of many of the Senators involved in this unfortunate episode.

We need to mobilize we all gonna pay for that abuse (including you, that probably isn’t a Brazillian and also do not lives in Brazil, but if this law is approved in Brazil, rest assured that it will be one more country to use as an example when a similar law will be presented at your country’s legislative house… the people that are behind this thing in Brazil are also acting on worldwide).

Please see bellow a video that summarizes everything that I fell in recent days on this project. It is from a Brazillian singer/rapper called Gabriel O Pensador, and the lyrics can be found here (sorry, google translation again :) ):

Just as a complement, if the Azeredo’s Project is approved, me and you should be sentenced to 4 years in Jail just because we’ve watched this video :)…
