Há alguns meses eu escrevi um post anunciando a conclusão do desenvolvimento da versão 1.2 do padrão ODF pelo OASIS ODF TC. Na última sexta feira (30/09), foi anunciada oficialmente a aprovação do padrão pelo OASIS, e o Rob Weir publicou em seu blog um post bem interessante contando um pouco da história da especificação, listando os contribuidores dela e comemorando bastante o anúncio.
Eu gostei bastante de ver o número de empresas que votaram pela aprovação no OASIS (ninguém votou contra), pois a votação é aberta a todos os membros do OASIS e vota quem quer e tem interesse em ver a especificação aprovada. A quantidade mínima de votos necessários à aprovação era de 49 e tivemos 76 votos no final.

Como podem ver, temos nesta lista as empresas que trabalharam no desenvolvimento do padrão, empresas de TI já tradicionais no mercado, outros comitês de padronização, governos e grandes usuários de documentos eletrônicos.
O que me deixa muito satisfeito com esta aprovação e com o ODF 1.2 é que foram resolvidos muitos dos problemas apresentados durante os últimos anos, e adicionadas novas funcionalidades que serão fundamentais para que o ODF se torne em pouco tempo o padrão de fato para documentos de escritório em todo o mercado.
Os principais destaques nesta versão do padrão, que agora tem 1.217 páginas são o OpenFormula (especificação completa de fórmulas para planilhas), suporte a metadados em RDFa/RDF (os documentos se integram agora à web semântica) e o suporte a assinaturas digitais, motivo que me levou a trabalhar no comitê do ODF, para garantir que a especificação das assinaturas digitais do ODF fosse compatível com a ICP-Brasil.
Já existem diversos aplicativos utilizando a versão 1.2 do ODF, e a adoção desta versão pelos demais aplicativos é agora uma questão de tempo.
Devemos agora preparar a especificação para enviá-la a ISO, para que atualize a norma ISO/IEC 26.300:2006, e continuamos trabalhando no desenvolvimento do ODF 1.3.
Gostaria de deixar aqui um agradecimento público a todos aqueles que contribuíram direta ou indiretamente com a elaboração do ODF 1.2, com a adoção do padrão pelo mercado e um agradecimento especial a todos os que me ajudaram a encarar o desafio de participar de um desenvolvimento como este nestes 4 anos de trabalho. Teve brasileiro trabalhando na especificação e portanto, o ODF é o formato de documentos mais brasileiro de todos os tempos !

É um trabalho hercúleo mesmo porque não é uma “ponte” ou outra obra qualquer que seja possível ver com os próprios olhos. Até hoje ouço pessoas a perguntar o que é ODF? A humanidade deve ser muito grata pelo teu trabalho e de toda a equipe que estão a melhorar a cada dia as especificações do Open Document Format.
